The Chapter Zero New Zealand Board Toolkit provides directors with a simple and practical framework to ensure the climate challenge is being effectively addressed at the board table.

The Toolkit is primarily targeted at boards with limited resources and support for climate action, including small and medium-sized enterprises and not-for-profit organisations.

This free resource outlines international best practice. It will equip directors to lead the boardroom discussion, encouraging their organisations to take timely, positive and decisive action to drive the climate transition.

The core of the Toolkit is five key steps that boards can take to ensure their organisations have a holistic, robust and deliverable plan for reducing their emissions, responding to the opportunities of the net zero transition, and to the need for adaptation.

It also contains questions for directors to consider and pose to their boards, checklists and options for deeper reading, along with an interactive Scorecard tool to help boards assess their current approach and promote further conversation.

Originally developed by Chapter Zero in the UK, with partners The Berkeley Partnership and The Centre for Climate Engagement, this version of the Toolkit has been adapted and updated for New Zealand directors.
